Have you ever visited (or recently visited) the Learning Resources
Web site? If you are looking for some reading activities for your
students to do online, this is a nice site.
I have combined their description from the site with a few of my own
words. Read on and then go take a look.

The CNN San Francisco Bureau and Literacyworks (Western/Pacific
LINCS) have partnered to develop an online adult literacy site that
benefits all learners and instructors. This site offers web-delivered
instruction using current and past CNN San Francisco Bureau and CBS 5
news stories. Each story module includes the full text of each story
and interactive activities to test comprehension. The learner can
choose to read the text, listen to the text, or view the broadcast
through streaming video.

A current news story is featured and includes a variety of
comprehension activities--vocabulary, word selection, multiple
choice, sequencing, and conclusions. A Your Turn module allows
learners to respond to a question concerning the story they have just
read. Learners can use an email form that is included to submit their
comments. All comments are collected and posted on the "Your Turn!"
page. Learners are encouraged to respond to other learner's comments.

The Learning Resources site offers web-delivered instruction using
CNN and CBS 5 - KPIX (CBS Broadcasting) news stories. Western/Pacific
LINCS (part of the National Institute for Literacy's LINCS Project)
and Literacyworks, uses these stories to develop an online literacy
site that benefits all learners and instructors. This material is
intended for adult literacy and educational purposes. Though the
intended audience is adults, instructors and learners (of all ages)
are encouraged to use this material to promote better literacy.

Here's the address. Enjoy!
