Yesterday's ASCD Brief included the following reference. I thought
you might be interested in taking a look at it. A quick glance
revealed some activity suggestions that seemed applicable both for
home or school. It is available online.
The new book Family Literacy Experiences explores the power of the
home-school connection. Structured around text genres in the home, it
invites teachers to recognize diverse literacy experiences outside
the classroom and shows how to use skills from each genre to drive
meaningful reading and writing instruction. Click here to browse the
entire book online!
