Vince,

Susan Neuman did a significant amount of research with young mothers in
family literacy and her speciality is early literacy.  If the parents and
the children are English language learners, Patton Tabors wrote the seminal
One Child Two Languages and edited Beginning Literacy with Language with
David Dickinson.  Vicki Purcell-Gates has also done research in family
literacy and specializes in early literacy at the U. of British Colombia.
Then there's the wonderful Joseph Sparling at the University of North
Carolina who was an integral part of the Abecedarian research.  On the
parents' side, Heide Wrigley of Literacy Works is absolutely a top reading
and literacy expert.  There are others, of course, but these right off the
top of my head.

Our organization is closely working with two celebrities that are interested
in starting a teenage & child reading literacy program.  We have over 50
after-school programs this can be taught in, and are looking for a top
'reading literacy expert' to help design and implement an effective program.
This program will be fully funded and appreciate any suggestions.  Thanks
