We all know how important understanding technology and its use is to our
families. Why not capitalize on what you have been doing with your
families by filling out an application for the Verizon Tech Savvy
Awards-your program just might reap the monetary benefits. The deadline
has been extended. Read the announcement below, visit the Web site and
get your application in. You can't win an award unless you do.
Verizon Tech Savvy Awards
Deadline Extended
NCFL has extended the deadline to accept nominations for the 2009
Verizon Tech Savvy Awards to January 12, 2009, in recognition that so
many education programs are struggling with reduced budgets, which makes
the award funds even more important.
Four $5,000 regional awards and one $25,000 national award will be
presented at the National Conference on Family Literacy in Orlando, FL,
March 2, 2009.
The annual awards - established in 2007 by the Verizon Foundation, NCFL,
and former First Lady of Iowa Christie Vilsack - are designed to support
sustainable programs that help parents bridge the widening gap between
adults' and children's understanding of technology.
