Hope, too, you'll encourage parents to ?try creating comic strips online with MakeBeliefsComix.com. It's a great way to encourage writing, reading and storytelling. ?The site offers fun characters with different emotions, blank talk and thought balloons to fill in with text, story prompts as well as printables on which to write and draw. The comic strips can be printed and emailed to friends and family members, too.?
Sincerely,

Bill Zimmerman

Subject: [FamilyLiteracy 1564] your suggestions for parent resource materials

Hi,

A great resource for YOU to investigate and then recommend to parents to help
their children learn the English letter/sound system for beginning
reading/spelling is a highly researched, systematic and easily understandable
phonics program with FREE access to much basic information at
<www.phonicsinternational.com>

At first, the site seems overwhelming, since the creator, Debbie Hepplewhite,
shares the entire first unit online. I'd suggest first looking at the
Alphabetic Code and the Sounds Book Activity sheets. The program is detailed,
flexible, and comprehensive.

She is currently working on a North American version to be added to the site
since there are a few vowel variations in pronunciation between British and
American sounds.

Sincerely, Sharon Hude
