At this point, I am educating myself about various aspects of the fascinating subject of health literacy since this is the most complete source of reputable information I have encountered in my work. I have archived several documents and stories to use in the future. I am brainstorming different ways to use health literacy education in a broader way at my educational institution and field of public health communications. I feel lucky to have stumbled across this fantastic network and wealth of information.
Sincerely,
Kim Fetty

Subject: [HealthLiteracy 3652] Health Literacy Month story for October 30

Hi NIFL-Health,

I'm at a health literacy meeting and hearing quite a buzz about this
month's storytelling project. Please share (with this list or just me)
what you think of our Health Literacy Month stories and how you are
using them. Here's today's story:

October 30. "Health Education: Who’s the Expert Here?" Randi Kant has
worked for many years promoting healthy behaviors among older adults.
Her definition of health literacy has grown to include an individual’s
understanding of the day-to-day health behaviors crucial for good
health. She looks for ways to help clients realize they are in the
"driver's seat" of their own health.
