I recommend an online course that was created as part of a National Library
of Medicine grant. Great Rivers Partners for Health-e People is a La
Crosse, Wisconsin area collaborative between Community Literacy Coalition,
Gundersen Lutheran Health System, Franciscan Skemp/Mayo Health System, and
University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Franciscan Skem and Gundersen Lutheran
are using this online course to educate physicians. The course, "Health
Literacy Awareness: Plain Language for Your Patients" is very much a
"health literacy 101" and available free of charge to the public and is
located at:
www.literacycoalition.org/healthliteracy.html
The above web address is vaild through Jan 2010 when the course will
transition to a different website. Please contact me if you wish to use
the course; I can advise you further in how we have used this for physician
education.

Hi Everyone,
In moving our health literacy work forward, I am searching for some sort of
video, webinar training, etc. that goes over health literacy 101. It will
become something mandatory for all of our clinical staff at a network of 9
community-based health centers. While I would ideally like to do an
interactive training with all staff, pulling them away from clinic time is
not feasible. Any ideas? Anyone willing to talk off line who has been
through this before?
Thanks so much,
